Themes
Nine palettes, all dark but one. A palette changes colour and nothing else.
| Palette | |
|---|---|
cyan | the default: cyan on near-black with a blue cast |
mono | white on black |
hacker | green |
red · orange · pink · purple | each moves the surfaces with the accent, so nothing reads as recoloured |
blue | navy rather than the default nudged, so the two are not confused |
helix | the light one: Mono the other way up, black ink on paper, for a console read in daylight |
A palette changes colour and nothing else — the layout, the type
and the square corners are the product. helix is one exception rather
than a light/dark axis over the other eight, which would have been nine
more palettes to keep honest for the same screens.
Two things about helix worth knowing: its text levels are matched by contrast rather than by inverting numbers, and it is the only palette that re-picks the status colours, because a green tuned for near-black is not a colour on white. A log panel stays black under every palette, in the colours the program wrote.
Where it lives
On your account. The browser keeps a copy so the first paint is already the right colour, and the daemon serves the list of names it accepts, so nothing can save a palette that is not there.
Faces
The nine account faces are named after the palettes and drawn in the same colours — somebody on the red theme picking the red face is why there is more than one. Nothing requires them to line up.
